OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Four decades after winning the College World Series in 1984, 8 members of the Cal State Fullerton team came back to Omaha.

“We were truly the best team. We played together well, we worked hard together, we still communicate til these days,” said Mike Halasz, a member of the team.

Rosenblatt Stadium closed in 2010. Those aren’t the only memories coming to surface about where CWS games were once played.

“At Rosenblatt, that was a very rich community of RV enthusiasts, out of towners and local folks that really set up their own community around Rosenblatt,” said Jeff Hardy of Kros Strain Brewing Company. He’s referring to Dingerville.

Hardy found his own way to pay homage to it by creating a space for college baseball fans to have a good time.

“We know that we’re not going to replace it. But our thoughts are we don’t want that to die with Rosenblatt going away. We want to keep that memory alive in some way, shape or form,” he said.

Two blocks away from the new version of Dingerville is Charles Schwab Field, where a new generation of college baseball fans are moving into the future but never forgetting the past.

“I know Rosenblatt’s here and Rosenblatt was just amazing. But to come here and be apart of something like this for the kids is important to me,” said Shaun Beasley, visiting from Fayetteville, Arkansas.
