CWS 2024: Dads from all over carry on Father’s Day traditions
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - For dads near and far, spending the Father’s Day holiday at the College World Series is a family tradition.
“Since we were kids, we’ve been out here,” said son Mateo Letona. “Every single year since we were kids.”
It’s possible Fred Letona and his son from Oklahoma even crossed paths with Todd Wisdom and his son Jackson from Arkansas, who have been coming to CWS for nearly a decade.
“We’re from Arkansas. We come whether the Hogs are in it or not, but he’s a UNC grad so we’re here to support the heels,” said Wisdom.
This is their eighth year at the College World Series.
But it isn’t just father-son duos. These girl dads are having a great time too.
“We all love it the same. We just have a good time together,” said Jason Moore. “We’ve been here 14 hours the last two days and we’re about to do it again.” He’s tailgating with his family and friends.
Four other Omaha siblings decided to throw their dad a curveball this year. All four kids adorned matching “Dad” t-shirts with some funny photos of their father.
Dad: “I don’t even remember that picture being taken, said Greg Mendick.
Just like the others, spending Father’s Day at CWS is a tradition.
“Ever since we were all babies,” said his daughter, Megan.
“Even back when Rosenblatt was a thing,” said his son Jacob.
Father’s Day at the CWS is tradition all the kids are intent on keeping.
“When he passes on, a tradition we’re going to continue. their kids, our kids. It’s a great thing we’ve started,” said Mateo Letona.
