High school football: Thursday schedule in Omaha metro adjusted due to forecast

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The forecast has forced a shift in kickoff times for the opening week of high school football in Nebraska.
While it’s typically “Friday Night Lights,” the action gets started Thursday, with defending Nebraska Class A state champion Westside hosting Omaha North, as well as another Class A clash between Gretna and Elkhorn.
Both of those games were originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but the kickoff time has been moved up to 4 p.m. due to the threat of severe weather Thursday night in the Omaha metro.
Elkhorn South @ Lincoln East has also been moved up, from 7 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The rest of the Week 1 slate kicks off Friday, and the 6 Sports crew will be back for another season of “Friday Night Fever” — a show featuring highlights from the biggest games across the Omaha metro. 6 News also has you covered throughout the season with the High School Scoreboard, keeping you up-to-date on scores and results from games throughout eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa.
