Jade’s First Alert Forecast - A cooler, comfortable evening after a record-setting afternoon
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - It was a record-setting day across the Omaha area with a high of 96°, beating the 61-year-old record set back in 1963. This also matches the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in October in Omaha.

Lincoln reached a scorching high temperature of 97°, making for a very hot Huskers game.

Luckily, a cold front is moving through the area and will make for a much cooler evening forecast. Temperatures will return to the mid 70s by 7pm and into the 60s after 10pm. Clear skies will continue into tomorrow morning.

Although the heat is winding down, winds will still remain strong through the next few hours out of the northwest gusting up to 30 mph at times. This will increase fire danger with combined dry conditions.

Cooler air then settles in for the rest of the weekend with highs on Sunday struggling to make it into the lower 70s. That is about near average. A great day for any outdoor fall activities!

Dry weather and above-average highs continue all of next week as we make a run at 90 degrees once again by the end of next week.
