Bellevue schools, police on alert after child approached by stranger
BELLEVUE, Neb. (WOWT) - A child in the area near two schools was approached by a man in a vehicle on Thursday afternoon, prompting an increase in police presence in that area “for the foreseeable future,” according to authorities.
Bellevue Public Schools and that Bellevue Police Department said in a joint statement on Friday that a man driving a gray sedan with no license plates reportedly pulled up next the child and asked them to get inside.
“But the child refused, and the vehicle left the area,” the statement says.
The incident has prompted BPD to increase their visibility in that area, near Central Elementary and Mission Middle Schools, located northwest of Washington Street and Mission Avenue.
