Teen identified in deadly Washington County crash
AINSWORTH, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa State Patrol has identified the person killed in the crash involving a train in Ainsworth on Monday.
The person was identified as 17-year-old Rowan Ross of Washington, Iowa.
Ross was a senior at Washington High School.
The school emailed parents Monday afternoon:
“It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the death of Rowan Ross, a valued member of our senior class,” the email reads. “Rowan died early this morning in a car accident. We regret that we were unable to inform you right away this morning. Please understand this was due to the parent’s wishes and giving them time to notify necessary family members and work through this difficult situation.”

Iowa State Patrol says one person was killed when train hit a car in Ainsworth early Monday morning.
According to a crash report, at 1:50 a.m., a 2011 Ford Fusion was driving south on Spruce Street when the driver ran a stop sign over the railroad crossing.
The car was hit by a westbound train and came to a rest in a ditch.
The crash is under investigation.
