GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A trial date is pending for a former Grand Island firefighter facing enticement and child abuse charges.

Court records show 47-year-old Jared Stockwell entered a written plea on Monday of not guilty to enticement by electronic communication device and intentional child abuse/no injury. Both are felony charges.

Stockwell also asked the judge for permission to question the alleged victim and to order prosecutors to turn over evidence against Stockwell including information from a jailhouse informant. As of Tuesday morning, the judge had not ruled on either motion and had not set a trial date.

Stockwell was arrested on suspicion of using an electronic device to entice a minor on July 1. A Hall County Sheriff’s report indicated he sent messages that were sexual in nature to a 13-year-old girl. He was formally charged in August and resigned from the Grand Island Fire Department Sept. 25.
