CWS 2024: Severe weather delays Saturday night game

Florida, Texas A&M fans were advised to seek shelter

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Strong to severe thunderstorms that rolled through the Omaha metro area Saturday evening also impacting the College World Series, delaying the evening game between Florida and Texas A&M.

Gates opened at 9:15 p.m. with the first pitch for tonight’s game scheduled for 10:15 p.m. No additional adverse weather is expected for the late night game.

Omaha Police advised on social media that they are asking fans to shelter for the time being. CHI Health Center has opened its doors for those near the stadium or Omaha Baseball Village to have a place to ride the storm out.

As for the game itself, CWS officials announced a weather delay around 5:30 p.m.; as of 7:20 p.m., it’s still unclear when play will resume.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect for the Omaha metro and much of eastern Nebraska and far western Iowa until 10 p.m.
