LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force investigation led to the arrest of a Lincoln man for allegedly selling a firearm and meth at a motel.

Paul Pond, 45, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a controlled substance.

On May 1, 2023, members of the task force executed a search at the Super 8 Motel on West O Street. During the search, investigators found a large amount of meth, an AR-15 rifle, two 30-round magazines and 21 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition. A man was arrested on gun and drug charges following the search.

On July 31, 2023, officers reviewed the man’s phone and found messages between him and Pond on Facebook. According to court documents, Pond had agreed to sell the man two magazines, a collapsible stock, a scope, and meth. Pond also said he would bring the rifle to the man on April 30, 2023, when the man was staying at the Super 8 Motel.

Surveillance footage from the motel on April 30, 2023 reportedly showed a person resembling Pond entering the lobby and going upstairs. According to court documents, the man arrested in the May 1 incident eventually informed law enforcement about the deal involving Pond.

On Oct. 10, investigators were conducting surveillance in a neighborhood northwest of 56th and Holdrege streets when they saw Pond in the driveway of a home.

As officers were arresting Pond, a convicted felon, for selling a firearm, they reportedly found a digital scale, several clear empty bags, seven grams of methamphetamine, and $100.

Pond’s bond is set at 10% of $100,000. His next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
