IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Hawkeyes are already rising in the college football polls ahead of the Cy-Hawk game on Saturday.

The Hawkeyes rose four spots in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls released on Tuesday, following the first week of the season. Iowa is now ranked 21 in both polls.

The rise follows the Hawkeyes 40-0 win over Illinois State on Saturday, highlighted by a stellar second half when the Iowa offense finally woke up to score 34 points, after leading just 6-0 at halftime. The Hawkeye defense looked impressive, as well, holding Illinois State to 189 total yards of offense.

Iowa plays in-state rival Iowa State on Saturday in the annual CyHawk game. The Cyclones are unranked but received votes in both the AP and coaches poll. That follows the Cyclones 21-3 win over North Dakota on Saturday, highlighted by QB Rocco Becht’s 267 yards passing and 2 touchdowns.
