OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Another Creighton men’s basketball player — this time, an Omaha metro native — is planning to leave the program.

True freshman Josiah Dotzler announced that he will enter the transfer portal on Monday. Dotzler appeared in 19 games for Creighton this season, logging about four minutes per contest.

Dotzler was the top recruit in the state coming out of Bellevue West High School last year, earning Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 2022-23. The 6-foot-3 guard led the Thunderbirds to a perfect 29-0 season and a state championship in his senior year.

Josiah’s older brother, Josh Dotzler, was a defensive standout for Creighton under head coach Dana Altman from 2005-2009.

Dotzler joins Johnathan Lawson and Brock Vice as the three Bluejays to announce their departure so far. Creighton’s season came to an end last Friday with a loss to Tennessee in the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16.
