OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - While sharing a floor with Bronny James, Baylor Scheierman managed to grab the spotlight in the first game of the 2024 NBA Draft combine in Chicago.

The former Creighton standout scored 17 points, tying a game-high, on 6-of-11 shooting for Team St. Andrews. His energy on the defensive end also impressed, reeling in eight rebounds and three steals.

In the final minutes of the game, Scheierman’s performance drew a glowing review from ESPN Draft analyst Jonathan Givony.

“Baylor Scheierman has been the best player on the floor today from what I’ve seen,” Givony said. “There’s some real buzz about Baylor Scheierman in this arena. I walked the concourse at halftime. People are starting to say, why can’t this guy be a first-round pick?”

The broadcast crew compared his game to that of NBA veteran sharpshooter Joe Ingles. Scheierman’s capability as a shooter is well-documented—his 110 three-point makes tied for 12th most in college basketball last season. Givony said his passing ability and defensive efforts are what stood out Monday.

“He’s 6-foot-7, he can make shots, he’s got a great feel [for the game],” Givony added. “Everybody in the NBA is looking for that kind of player right now. You could plug him into an NBA rotation immediately.”

Trey Alexander started for Team Love in the second game, finishing with three points on 1-of-8 shooting in nearly 21 minutes of work.
