OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The U.S. Under-23 Men’s Youth National Team head coach Marko Mitrovic named current Orlando City SC forward Duncan McGuire to the tournament roster today.

The 2024 Olympics will be the first time in 16 years the USMNT has appeared in competition. The USMNT last qualified for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

In only 48 matches in the MLS, McGuire has already netted 20 goals for Orlando City FC.

McGuire was selected No. 6 overall by the Lions in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. In his two seasons in Orlando, the Omaha native already ranks sixth in the Club’s all-time scoring list with 23.

In his junior campaign at Creighton, McGuire led the nation in goals (23), propelling the Bluejays to the College Cup. The former Junior Jay capped off his college career by winning the 2022 MAC Hermann Award.

The USMNT will begin its quest for a gold medal on July 24 when the U.S. faces the Olympic hosts France. The Group Stage portion of the competition continues with New Zealand on July 27 and Guinea on July 30.
