Sarpy County authorities looking for 2 men accused of vehicle theft

SPRINGFIELD, Neb. (WOWT) - The Sarpy County Sheriffs Office is looking for help to identify two men involved in an armed vehicle theft in Springfield on Thursday.

According to a release, at around 2:00 a.m., a man heard his truck starting up in his driveway. He went out and confronted the men, who then pointed a black pistol at him.

The report states the owner went back into his house and the men exited the truck, and drove away in a white Ford Explorer owned by Burlington North Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway. The BNSF Explorer was followed by another white Explorer.

The BNSF Explorer was then found abandoned with damage on the front around Highway 6 and 220th Street.

Deputies found that the BNSF Explorer was stolen from a house on Chestnut Street. The other white Explorer was not found.

Both of the thieves were seen with handguns.

At the time of the theft, the men were wearing black facemasks and and sweatshirts. One of the men removed his mask and sweatshirt during the theft.
