Election 2024: Voter registration deadlines for Sarpy, Douglas County approaching

Voters can now go in-person to county election offices to cast their vote in the upcoming November Election.

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Douglas and Sarpy County Election Commissions are reminding residents about the deadlines to register to vote in the upcoming election.

For both Douglas and Sarpy Counties, the last day to register to vote via mail, online, the DMV, or by submitting information via a person other than yourself is Friday, October 18.

If this deadline is missed, voters can still register in-person at their respective election commission by Friday, October 25.

In-person registration can be completed at the following offices:

Due to Nebraska’s new Voter ID law, voters must provide a valid photo ID before voting.

The Department’s release listed some examples of valid ID.

  • Nebraska driver’s license
  • Nebraska state ID
  • U.S. passport
  • Military ID
  • Tribal ID
  • Hospital, intermediate care facility, assisted-living facility or nursing home record
  • Nebraska political subdivision ID (state, county, city, school, etc.)
  • Nebraska college or university ID (public or private)

If you don’t have a valid photo ID, one can be procured from the Nebraska DMV for free. If you need a copy of a birth certificate to receive an ID, you can contact the Department of Health and Human Services.
